Friuli Innovazione, research and technology transfer centre, was set up in order to foster the economic development of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia by promoting the technology transfer and the interaction between academic researchers and local enterprises.
In 2005, with the support of the Region, Friuli Innovazione launched the Science and Technology Park “Luigi Danieli” of Udine, located in the industrial area of Udine. The Park is an attractive space equipped with offices end laboratories, green areas, meeting and conference rooms, available to companies and researchers that want to develop research and technology projects. It covers an area of over 50,000 square meters, of which 45,000 green space and 2,700 covered area, a few minutes from the European motorway network and accessible from several international airports (Trieste, Venice, Ljubljana, Klagenfurt).
The Park hosts centres of research, R&D laboratories, industrial spin-offs and high-tech start ups that have the opportunity to get in contact with others innovative enterprises, share ideas and knowledge, and to access more directly to the regional research system.
Friuli Innovazione operates across all business sectors with a strong focus on areas that match the Region’s needs and opportunities: biotechnology, metallurgy and technology of surfaces and advanced materials, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), environment and energy, wood. In those sectors Friuli Innovazione has launched some excellent initiatives like CRISP, Research Centre for Process Pollution and Process Development and the Laboratory of Metallurgy, Surface Technologies and Advanced Materials. Besides, Friuli Innovazione has contribute to the launch of the Applied Genomics Institute (IGA), an international centre of research in genetics and genomics of living organisms.
Spazio Impresa is an integrated proposal for enterprises, research and new business ideas that offers customised services for the promotion and the support of innovation at every stage: development of entrepreneurial ideas and creation of new enterprises, through the Techno Seed incubator; search for technical and scientific skills and activating agreements between university and enterprises; search for funds and starting partnership and innovative projects; support for the growth and development of small and micro high-tech enterprises through the Techno Growth accelerator.
