The Amministrazione Provinciale di Belluno:
• is a local autonomous authority intermediate level between local and regional government;
• represents the entire provincial community (69 Municipalities) and looks after its interests;
• promotes and coordinates its further development.
Its main functions are:
a) soil conservation, protection and enhancement of the environment and disaster;
b) protection and enhancement of water resources and energy;
c) promotion of culture and tourism;
d) traffic and transport;
e) protection of flora and fauna parks and nature reserves;
f) hunting and fishing in inland waters;
g) organization of waste disposal at the provincial level, detection, discipline and control of discharges of water and air emissions and noise;
h) health services, hygiene and public profile, conferred by state and regional legislation;
i) tasks related to the secondary school level, artistic and vocational training, including school construction, awarded by state and regional legislation;
l) collection and data processing, technical and administrative assistance to local authorities.
Additional tasks are those of coordination and planning: in particular the Province prepare and adopts the territorial plan of co-ordination (piano territoriale di coordinamento) that contains the guideline for the territorial aspect
